Kreshnik Jonuzi is an Albanian American filmmaker originally from Atlantic City, New Jersey, and currently based in New York City. He studied film at Lynn University in Florida, where he developed a deep passion for documentary filmmaking and later earned his master's degree in film.
Recognized for his impact on the documentary field, Kreshnik was recently named one of DOC NYC’s "40 Under 40," a prestigious list that celebrates young creatives shaping the industry.
Kreshnik began his career at NFL Films, where he contributed to several acclaimed sports documentaries airing on HBO and ESPN. In 2017, he made his directorial debut with Triumph, a film that explores the political tensions and historical significance of Albania's national football team as they qualified for their first major international tournament. The film premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival and garnered recognition at festivals such as DocsMX, AmDocs, and Fajr Film Festival, winning the Audience Award at Dokufest. Triumph was released on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video in May 2020.
His second feature, Belonging, supported by the Icelandic Film Center, delves into the emotional aftermath of deportation through the lens of a family’s experience. The film was showcased at several prominent festivals, including the Thessaloniki Film Festival, Dokufest, Nordisk Panorama, Tirana Film Festival, and Reykjavik Film Festival.
Currently, Kreshnik is in post-production on his third feature documentary, Enough, a co-production with Cineflix Media, which follows attorney Lee Merritt, who runs one of the largest civil rights firms in the United States.
Additionally, Kreshnik is co-producing Big In Gazi Baba, a feature documentary directed by Pauline Blanchet. The film follows 14-year-old female wrestling champion Sadije in North Macedonia as she navigates being the 'son' in her Albanian Muslim family and the only girl in her wrestling club.
